Where the wild things are: the destroyed isle of Numenor????????
Good morning to people who are turned into birds as they jump from sea cliffs, sad beach cryptids, bad bitches who live in hidden cities, one-handed tragic figures, spirits of fire, victims of shipwrecks, people with great hair, receivers of ominous dreams and foresight, werewolves who thought they were the worst in the land but weren’t, unnamed wives and sentient malevolent swords
this is like 100% petty all things considered but i just can’t wait until some of u learn that it is absolutely normal for people of any age to refer to their dads as “daddy” in many parts of the south like it isn’t a red flag there. 60 year old women in my family still refer to their dads as “daddy.” and btw i think anyone should be allowed to call their own fathers whatever they want without someone either making it nasty or being accusatory like don’t you get tired of making ppl uncomfortable for no reason
good morning to every person who calls their parents mommy or daddy or pápi or papa or mama or baba or any other “childish” name. and to everyone who is unnecessarily rude or condescending under this post please go back to sleep and get some good rest so you’re not as cranky and mean to strangers on the internet.
reminder to worldbuilders: don't get caught up in things that aren't important to the story you're writing, like plot and characters! instead, try to focus on what readers actually care about: detailed plate tectonics
the only bad part about going to the zoo is hearing adult men confidently tell their kids or gfs objectively incorrect information about the animals we’re looking at and having to remain silent. do u know the restraint it takes to say nothing when a grown adult man tells someone “falcons are in the same family as eagles” next to me? no babygirl. no.
fyi falcons are not closely related to other birds of prey (hawks/eagles/buzzards). falcons are actually parrots that minmaxed for a glass cannon dps build.
assault parrots, if you will
i mean this. isn't true either. like. theyre more closely related to parrots than they are to the accipitriformes (hawks & co). but they're not parrots. they're in a group that includes the falconiformes, psittaciformes (parrots), and passeriformes (perching birds). falcons are still their own thing they're not parrots
from kuhl et al 2021 (won't link here so it doesn't eat my reply, but it's freely available on the oxford academic molecular biology & evolution website) which made a tree for birds based on molecular data. falcons are the sister group to the clade that includes the psittaciformes and the passeriformes. passeriformes like crows or sparrows are more closely related to parrots than falcons are.
i understand you may have been exaggerating for comedic effect, i think? by saying that falcons are parrots as a way to exaggerate that they're related to parrots. at least, that's what i'm assuming. but your average tumblr user isn't going to know enough about bird taxonomy to recognize that exaggeration, and may very well just take it as fact.
btw i'm sorry if i come off as confrontational or anything based on your original post i'm sure you understand the urge to correct on this subject.
